Thanks for taking the time to chat with SIW. Tell us a little bit about yourself and your blog. Beauty and makeup love.
Poonam: Hello Smart Indian Women…, I am software professional by qualification but a beauty and makeup blogger by passion. I was completely unaware of the makeup world until I got married and started looking to pick stuff for my bridal kit. It was so mind blogging to see so many similar products from different brands but having no idea which one is better than the other and that how my makeup journey started with “beautyandmakeupmatters”.
My blog is a place where I share all of my makeup love through pictures and reviews, so as to help out women like me to choose what will work best for them and hence invest wisely in makeup and skin care products. I also share quite a lot of Makeup looks and tutorials which can help them achieve that show stopping look without paying a bomb at parlors :D. It’s all about making today women independent and nurture their love for everything beautiful.
What makes your blog so unique and why should people read it?
Poonam: There is huge chunk of beauty and makeup blogs flooding the internet but what makes “beautyandmakeupmatters” stand out is the quality pictures and swatches post. It is hard to pick or buy any product by just looking at the swatches over hand as that is not the place where you will be actually using it. So, I never review a product without showing how it looks on application like any eyeliner, eye shadows, lipsticks and everything else.
I am also fond of doing inspirational makeup looks using minimal and best affordable products. So, if you want to achieve that diva like look just hop on to the blog and go over those step by step tutorials that will help you get the look of your favorite celebrity.
How often do you blog?
Love and beauty makeup tutorial
Poonam: I have a full time job so sometimes it is quite hard for me to catch up with the blog. I am quite regular as of now and 3-5 posts a week is my usual target.
What has been your most successful blog post to date and what was it about?
Poonam: It is a tough question as I don’t know what criteria will be the best to choose the most successful post but most of my Celebrity Inspired Makeup looks one’s have been loved by readers. Also, Eye makeup tutorials are another genre that receives much appreciation and likes by makeup enthusiasts.
What do you find most challenging about blogging?
Poonam: The most challenging thing about blogging what I feel is to keep it going. Blogging is just like publishing newspaper, you need to come up with more interesting and exciting news everyday.. you just can’t back out on this. Even if you are out with family, busy with work or even on a vacation you have to do it and sometimes it is just too hard to feel motivated to do so.
But blogging teaches a lot of things like being regular and planning things ahead so none of your blog or the trip will suffer. And you will enjoy the best of both the worlds.
What are some of your favorite author blogs and why?
Poonam : My favorite beauty blogs are
IndianVanityCase ( Cynthia) – Her blog is cuteness overloaded. The way she clicks pictures makes everything so looks so pretty. Her amazing makeup skills and themed makeup looks are my favorite too
MakeupandBeautyBlog ( Karen) – I love reading her posts throughout, she makes everything so interesting. Her incessant rants about her Cat converted me to a cat lover too. She has an amazing makeup style, I love and learn a lot a lot about makeup through her blog
Both of these bloggers have unmatchable quality and style in terms of blogging
What are your favorite books that you would recommend SIW family?
Love and beauty makeup remover wipes review
Poonam: I enjoy reading fiction more but The Diary of a Girl – Anne Frank and The Secret Series are my favorites.
What advice would you give to young women readers of SIW who want to follow a similar career path as you?
Poonam: My only advice will be to do everything you love and not for the heck of it. If you love and feel for blogging only then you will be able to continue or it will just die after initial excitement and infatuation. If you are really serious about blogging, choose your favorite niche and start sharing your thoughts with the world. Blogging is all about hard work (sometimes smart work too) but there is no shortcut to success here.
