Who is a good candidate for microblading?

Those needing a bit of a brow 'boost' - you might not have 'bad' eyebrows per se but you may have some patchy spots here and there.

Those that have overplucked and have irreversible results of some uneven tweezing, or you'd like to avoid having to fill in your brows with makeup anymore.

Also those who are suffering from any hair loss that has led their brows to be very sparse or non-existent.

What can you expect at your appointment?

The first half hour is spent answering any questions you may have and deciding on the right shape and pigment color, so you will know exactly the brow shape we will be microblading before we start. We use an eyebrow pencil to draw in the preferred eyebrow shape which will act as a template to ensure the end result matches your desired shape. This first 30 minutes is also the time that we apply the numbing cream to let it set in. The next 20-30 minutes is spent drawing the actual hair strokes. The last 15-20 minutes is going over aftercare instructions and letting the pigment sit for a bit until we wipe it away and you're free to carry on with your day:)

Numbing cream is initially applied and then numbing gel is reapplied throughout the process to ensure you don't feel anything. For those that do feel something the feeling is minimal and any pain totally tolerable. Some have described it as a mild scratching sensation, having been through it myself I can say I felt nothing more than some mild pressure but of course it will vary from person to person.

There isn't any downtime in the sense that you can go back to work and resume normal activities almost immediately. Do note that the microbladed area will appear darker and more bold in colour for the next few days during the healing process but will lighten significantly and be softer when healed.

We will go over the aftercare in detail during the procedure but the main points are to avoid sweating for about a week after the procedure, avoid putting any product or makeup on your brows for a couple weeks. There may be some flaking or scabbing depending on the person and procedure but overall it'll be a breeze the healing process.

We're in love with Kailey and Michael's beautiful forest wedding at The Kortright Centre. Their entire wedding took place outdoors, followed by dancing under bistro lights and featuring a bonfire with s'mores for dessert.

Lushana Bale Photography took the most beautiful images of the couple, and truly captured the soft and romantic look of the wedding.

For the makeup and hair we did loose waves and pinned it to the side to compliment the flower crown and kept the makeup fresh and glowy - focusing on the eyes and lashes with a peachy nude lip. Makeup and Hair by Schulz Beauty.

We had the pleasure of meeting the beauties behind Twin Koi - Julia and Avery. Twin Koi is a Canadian fashion, beauty and lifestyle blog. We love their blog and social pages because of their minimal, modern and unique style.

Schulz Beauty gave the girls their first spray tan - both girls who are fair skinned loved how natural their glow was when they left.

Now that we've reached the busy season for bridal, we're giving our brides an all natural glow for their wedding. Not only does it make brides look fabulous in a white gown, it makes their makeup application look even more glowing and gorgeous.

Here are some tips for brides wanting the perfect faux glow for the wedding day:

1) Schedule a test spray tan about a month before the wedding. This gives you the chance to test out what day you like the colour the best (i.e. some prefer the 2nd day when it's the darkest, versus other brides who prefer the colour on the 3rd day when it's naturally faded slightly). Also it gives you a good excuse to get a spray tan, whether it's for your bachelorette or for a busy weekend, showing off your spray tan is sure to make your girls envious of your glow and wanting to book their own!

2) Don't worry about anything getting on your white dress. As long as you've taken your first shower after the spray tan, the solution has sunk into your skin and any excess colour/bronzer has been washed off.

3) Choose a colour level similar to what your base colour is already. So if its in the middle of the Summer and you've been at the cottage this whole time, obviously you are going to be darker than you would be during the wintertime. If you have dark hair &, eyes, you can get away with a darker tan, and those that are blond with fair skin, you'd want a hue that's a bit lighter.

4) When it comes to preserving the colour, stick to warm not super hot showers and blot dry with your towel (not rub). The moisturize generously with an oil-free moisturizer. Adhere to the proper prep and aftercare for your spray tan to ensure flawless colour on your wedding day, see the following link to all the prep and aftercare instructions here.

5) Make those appointments! Nope, a month out is not too far in advance. Even if you have to change the date or time of your spray tan during the week of your wedding, now is the time to book to ensure a spot.

Now that we've welcomed spring, when you are in between getting your glow tans, a great bronzer that fools everyone into thinking winter wasn't rough on your complexion tops the list of makeup bag updates. Below are our favourite liquid and powder formulas for getting a hint of natural, sun-kissed color.

Bronzing Powder is used to create the illusion of sun-kissed skin. It shouldn't be used all over the face, just apply it to the areas that would be hit by the sun: the forehead, bridge of nose, tops of cheeks, and chin. Take what's left on the brush and blend onto the neck and decolleté so there is no line of demarcation.

1) Nars Bronzing Powder (Laguna/Casino)- creates the ultimate healthy glow. Diffused powders with golden shimmer create an all-over warmth or contour for the face perfect for creating or enhancing the look of tanned skin.

The key to a long-lasting, perfect spray tan is the prep before the spray tan and the maintenance after. Below are a few important tips on how to ensure the perfect glow:

Exfoliate the day before your spray tan

Why? Because exfoliation leads to longer lasting and even colour. The better you exfoliate pre-spray tan, the less your body will need to exfoliate afterwards, allowing your glow to last longer.

Avoid putting lotion on after you shower and before you are getting spray tanned.

Why? Moisturizer/lotion can act as a barrier and prevent absorption of DHA (the active ingredient in any sunless tanning product and what causes your skin to change colour).

Avoid wanting to be TOO dark for your current skin colour.

Why? A super dark colour might look good on your porcelain skin when you are sprayed and the first couple of days but going too dark for your skin tone could leave to uneven or patchy fading. We recommend doing a natural glow which can be built upon the next time you come for your spray tan vs. going many shades darker on your first tan.

Why? The DHA needs 7-8 hours to develop, the longer you leave it on the better! Our rapid tan solution for Girls on the Go allows you to wait only 2-4 hours before showering and the colour will continue to develop/get darker up to 24 hours after showering.

Wear loose fitting clothing to the spray tan appointment, avoid tight clothing right after.

Why? Anything that rubs against your skin causes friction, that friction will inevitably rub off some of your developing tan. We want try to not disturb the tanning process as much as possible! For example, wearing tight jeans or pants may rub off some solution leaving you with a lighter colour than if you allowed the solution to fully sink in. Ideally wear cotton after your spray tan, cotton clothing allows the skin to breath which helps to prevent any moisture from sweating.

After the 8 hours, take a light warm shower. Wash with a mild shower gel and simply rinse the extra airbrush solution off the surface of your skin. Do not exfoliate your skin during this shower. Gently pat yourself dry. Do not rub yourself dry.

Shaving after your tan speeds up the exfoliation process and shortens your tan by causing your tan to start to fade. When shaving, be sure to use a fresh blade with a light touch to minimize exfoliation and extend the life of your tan.

Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated and moisturize twice daily with a non-oily product to keep your glow tan lasting as long as possible!

Schulz Beauty and founder Jennifer Schulz was recently featured as Today's Notable Entrepreneur on Read the full interview here to learn more about us, here are some highlights of the interview:

Describe what you do in less than 140 characters. Go.

We make women glow gorgeous. Schulz Make-up + Beauty Studio is the first of its kind in Toronto, an intimate and glamorous place to make one feel their best.

We offer make-up, custom spray tanning and hairstyling for every occasion. We also boast Toronto’s firstsunless (UV-Free) studio, providing our clients with a natural looking glow without exposure to harmful rays.

What was the inspiration for your career route?

I worked many years as a corporate accountant but my passion was always make-up and making people look and feel their best. After receiving my CA designation I decided to go to make-up school and learn from the best. While I was living in Vancouver, I worked as an accountant full-time and was freelancing as a makeup artist and hairstylist in the evenings and weekends.

I realized that a woman shouldn’t have to wait for her big day or a special occasion to be pampered and to get her make-up done. When I moved to Toronto, after years of juggling my day-job as an accountant and evenings/weekends as a make-up artist, I decided to open my own place and Schulz Make-up + Beauty Studio was born. I wanted to create a place where women can go and be made to feel beautiful, anytime.

Also, coming from Vancouver, where there are many options to get a great spray tan, I was shocked how hard it was to find somewhere to get one in Toronto. I felt there was a need for a beautiful place to get a natural glow throughout the year, especially with the dangers of using a tanning bed.

Where is your favourite place to wine/dine in your city and why?

King West since there are tons of great restaurants and bars and it's on my front doorstep. Bar Buca for snacks, and the Mafalde ai Funghi Pasta at Gusto 101 is so good I have dreams about it.

Having to wake up super early every Saturday during the busy season for weddings (May to October) while everyone else is sleeping in.

White wine and trashy reality TV (hello, Real Housewives).

What’s something you wish you didn’t spend so much money on? What’s something you wish you spent more on?

Make-up! Or maybe I wish that make-up wasn’t so expensive… but it’s product testing, right?

I wish I could spend more money on travel and carving out time to get away on extended trips.

We've always been a fan of adding a hair accessory or embellishment to a bride's hairstyle to give it something extra special for the wedding day. Not only does it photograph great in photos, it can also help balance out an updo or add to the theme of the wedding. Whether it's a small hair comb pulling back one side of the hair or a crystal band woven through your updo, we have a selection of bridal hair accessories at Schulz Beauty for you to try on during the trial to see what would look best.

2016 is trending to see an increase in butterflies, either scattered through a loose braid, braided crown or updo. Also an increase in fresh flowers worn in the hair and flower crowns are becoming more popular, this is a great option for relaxed summer wedding.

Despite what's trending, the final decision for your hair should complement your dress, neckline and theme of the wedding. Choose whatever makes you feel best!

Schulz Beauty was created to fill a necessity and gap in Toronto's beauty market, an intimate, yet glamorous place to go and get dolled up! Lets be honest, who even knows where to get a good spray tan in Toronto?
